One of our customers in Calgary sent us this photo of a structure he made out of 10 logs and some cross strapping. This simple structure has already outlived several poly tarp coverings and the customer decided to go with a heavy duty 18 oz vinyl tarp to create a more enduring shelter.
If you have expensive equipment, such is this Kubota loader, sitting in the elements, it is well worth investing in a vinyl tarp to keep the rain, ice and snow off of your equipment.
Keep in mind that there could be some upward wind load on the structure so ideally you should bury the poles a foot or so to keep the structure grounded.
